Oktoberfest!

German Food and Beer Tasting

October 30th, 5:30PM

German Vorspeisen

Konigsberger Klopse

Ground beef, pork and bison meatballs with capers and cream sauce.  Authentic version originates from Prussia and contains veal; we are eliminating the veal and adding the local bison for our Colorado version!

Bratwurst with Mustard Sauce

Made with beef and pork, we will simmer these in beer then pan crisp – served with a beer reduction and mustard sauce.

German Potato Salad

Creamy textured potatoes tossed with bacon, onion and vinegar served warm.

Braised Local Cabbage and Apples

Fossil Creek Farms green cabbage braised with Western Slope apples from Ela Farms.

Beers

Hofbrau Original

Traditional Munich style bottom-fermented lager from one the oldest breweries in Germany. Slightly bitter, very refreshing and crisp with a hint of malt to balance the Dortmunder/Helles hops.

Kapuziner Weisse

A hedonistic and cloudy Weissbier from the original Mönchshof brewery recipe. Subtle flavors of banana and yeasty dough with a clove and bitter spiced character that gives the beer a dry finish.

Plank Dunkler Weizenbock

Family owned and operated for over 350 years in Bavaria, Michael Plank makes some of the best bottle conditioned wheat ales in the world. The Dunkler Weizenbock is dark with sweet tree fruit, nutty yeast notes and toasted sweet spice. A great fall weather ale.

Kulmbacher Eisbock

The story goes that a wooden barrel of bockbier was inadvertently left in the old brewery yard in the middle of winter. By the time it was found, the contents were mostly frozen, and the keg had broken open. The ice was chipped away, leaving behind a much richer, more concentrated, but exceptionally clean tasting brew with a deceptive 9.2% alcohol by volume. The original Eisbock and probably still the finest example in the world.

NoCo Active 20/30

Christmas for Kids

Partners Mentoring Youth  and Northern Colorado Active 20/30 Foundation are combining forces again this holiday season to support vulnerable youth in both Larimer and Weld counties.  We are excited to kick-off the 2011 Christmas for Kids Campaign.  This campaign is a year-end appeal to support 70 youth in the Partners mentoring program with a goal of raising $100,000 by December 31, 2011.

A highlight during this campaign is a life-skill activity for Partners youth organized by NOCO Active 20/30 members.  This life-skill activity will take place on Saturday, December 3rd where over 150 northern Colorado youth, with their adult mentors, will be set loose in Walmart, armed with a gift card.  Their mission - a holiday shopping spree!  But this is not your ordinary shopping spree.  Youth will seek out gifts for family members so they can share this joyous season with their loved ones.  In the process, youth will acquire life skills by developing a shopping list, budgeting, and most importantly, thinking about what might make that special someone in their life happy.  After the shopping spree, everyone will head to the Embassy Suites for a gift-wrapping session with the CSU Female Water Polo team and breakfast provided by Embassy Suites.

The Partners mentoring program creates and supports mentoring relationships between positive adult role models and youth facing challenges in their lives.  After a year in the Partners mentoring program youth show increased self-esteem and self-confidence, decreased alcohol, drug use and juvenile delinquency, and improved academic performance and future outlook.  Your investment in these youth will result in a stronger and more vibrant community.

As an added benefit, local donors and NOCO 20/30 are providing matching dollars to leverage donations received now through December 31, 2011.  Your investment, whether it is $10, $50, $100 or more, will be significantly leveraged.

New Beef, Coming Soon

We are excited to bring Gold Canyon Angus Beef to the menu from JBS Beef, USA. Single sourced from Utah, this upper two thirds choice beef offers rich marbling and a juicy texture that yields an incredible beef flavor.  The cut has not been chosen yet but we are leaning towards flat iron or hanger steak!

We are also working with a local distributor to bring eastern Colorado natural beef to the menu.  This program buys directly from small ranches/farmers in our region that meet the specific no hormone/antibiotic program.  Grass-fed will be sourced and featured whenever we can find it available.  This beef is very tasty and we are directly supporting small farms in our community.
